- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2011My husband and I just returned from an absolutely glorious trip to Aruba. Unfortunately, one of the few downsides of the trip was our parasailing experience. Thankfully this product did its job and then some, and I couldn't be happier with it!
I had bought this bag specifically for the trip. I knew we were going to be doing some water activities, and though I wasn't planning on completely submerging the bag in water, I didn't want to risk getting my cash, credit card, room key, etc. even slightly damp. One day during the trip, my husband and I decided to go parasailing. The bag was around my husband's waist. We went up in the air with no trouble and were enjoying the views when suddenly the boat's engine overheated...and down we floated into the ocean, parachute and all. We were strapped together, with me in front of my husband, and we were literally being dragged across the water by the rope that still attached us to the boat. My husband was submerged up to his neck, while my entire body, including my head, was completely under. Ultimately, I had to be rescued by one of the guides steering the boat -- but between the bag being totally submerged in water, the force of the rope dragging us along, and the thrashing of legs and arms as my husband tried to keep me from drowning, we were certain that (A) the bag had broken off and was now floating somewhere at sea, or (B) our valuables had been destroyed. Imagine our surprise when we realized that not only was the bag still in tact, but that everything inside was bone dry!
After that, we never had a single doubt about the bag. We took it with us tubing, kayaking and even banana boat riding. Our valuables didn't see a drop of water, and the bag is in the same condition that it was when it first arrived. And not only does it work perfectly, but it's bigger than it looks! I fit my small wallet, my confirmation e-mails, my watch, Chapstick, a bottle of aspirin, and even my "monthly visitor" supplies in there all at the same time, and everything fit fine.
I cannot recommend this product enough. Seriously worth every penny!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2010Ok so i purchased this dry pack after reading reviews about how it doesn't work and how it leaks at times and that the directions clearly state not to submerge it into water, even though it advertises that it is completely waterproof. After reading these reviews, I still went for it and this is what i found:
First you have to consider that it is less than a $20 purchase. The product is actually built pretty solid. The quality of the plastic isn't cheap and the nylon belt isn't cheap either. The only component that I'd have any complaint about is the aluminum clip that attaches the bag to the belt. I had a fear that it might open up during my snorkeling sessions so I solved the problem by putting some duct tape around it to make sure it doesn't slip open.
The next fear was the water leaking in. SOLUTION: i put my stuff in a little plastic ziplock and then put it in the bag. Worked like a charm. Yes, the bag leaked a bit at times, maybe a couple of drops, but even if it leaked a lot i was protected. The point of this bag is to serve as a fairly decent waterproof package that you can connect to yourself using the belt. It wasn't too much of a burden for me to just bag my ID, money, coins, passport, etc. in a ziplock and stuff it in the bag. I'm very satisfied with the use i got out of the pack and look forward to using it again.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2009This item work very well for my travels. I wore it as a waist bag in and out of the water, climbing waterfalls, hiking, and off roading. It kept all items dry. It is very light weight and was more spacious than expected. The only tricky part is maneuvering the knobs to open and close the bag. The knobs were very tight and difficult to turn, especially if you are slightly arthritic or are very cold from long periods of time in the water.
Overall, I recommend this item. And I love the attachment that makes it easy to unhook and throw into your satchel.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2010I bought this bag for traveling and using at the beach to hold critical items like my phone, keys, wallet etc. I like the idea of attaching this at the waist rather than one that hangs around the neck. The bag seemed bigger and bulkier in person. The top yellow part is plastic and about 1/4" + in thickness.
I was disappointed to see that the belt wasn't attached or wouldn't be attached to the bag by a belt loop or other means. I was concerned about the belt staying around the bag when I was in the water. I also wasn't confident about the clamp keeping the bag securely attached (er, to what I'm not sure in my case). I ended up finding a wrist lanyard to attach to the bag instead. Not what I was expecting to have to do, but some peace of mind. Instead of a 4, I gave this bag a three star rating as a result.
The waterproof part worked well in sink tests, and I felt confident that the contents would stay dry. In the end, for my initial beach excursion, I had it in my beach bag, but we had a water spout touch down in front of us and left the beach without a real trial! I guess many things in life just might not go as imagined ;)
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2014I purchased this pouch after reading reviews of people using it for snorkeling and other water activities...I even used an additional zip-lock pouch as a precautionary measure advised in few reviews but ended up damaging both my iphones. It leaked badly and there was at-least 1/2 cup water inside the pouch which leaked inside the ziplock damaging both my phones. During home test, it worked fine (although it did leak and few droplets were inside the pouch) but seems in beach it fails badly...its no where near being water proof !!
